Day 4- Antwerp and Bowling

Hello everyone,
I hope everyone has been enjoying our blog!  We have very much enjoyed your comments and questions.  Today we spent our day in Antwerp and had a tour.  We were showed the train station, the zoo, some diamond shops, some sights, some shopping, more chocolate shops, and even some chocolate making.  We also had the opportunity to visit Antwerp cathedral and see some famous artwork.

After our fantastic day in Antwerp, we were treated to bowling and dinner with some of the Belgian students.

The bowling and games were great and it was such great fun to spend time with the Belgian students.  After our games, we went for a Kebab and chips! It's been a full and busy day.  We have our cases packed and are off to Ghent in the morning before beginning our journey home.

Caitlin had the most fantastic treat, we wanted to share it with you!

Day 3- Market Shopping and Arts afternoon

Hello all,
We've had another super busy day.  We started our day with another yummy breakfast and tested out the new hotel waffle maker!  With our full belly's we headed out to the market to look at one of the largest in Belgium.

The students were all overwhelmed by the sights, smells, and all the things to experience.  We bought some desserts and looked around in the sunshine.

After the market we headed to school for a shared lunch.  We ate with the students and chatted.

After our shared lunch, the Belgian students led an arts afternoon.  We use photography and visual arts to create a shared project.

We had a great time and worked really hard.  We think the finished product looks amazing!
After our arts we headed to dinner.  The restaurant was HUGE!

We spotted some cool graffiti on the way back to the hotel.  Can anyone recognise the character Jordan spotted?
Thanks for your questions today, please keep looking!

Day 2- City Rally and Sports

Hello everyone back at Spring Common!
We've had a full and fantastic day again and have lots to update you on.

We started this morning with a great hotel breakfast and everyone had lots of choice.
After our breakfast we headed to the market square to meet the students and start our tour of the city.

The students split us into groups and we set off to play some games and sightsee around the city.

We saw the market square, library, theatre, and even a chocolate shop!

After all the sightseeing we went to visit the park and the sunshine was out!
After the park we headed to the school for a tour and took a chance to take a photo in the sunshine in the courtyard.

We had a break for a little lunch and then started the second half of our afternoon which was a real treat! We got to play some sports organised by the students it was twice as long as senior games!

It was a very competitive afternoon.  Andy won the dodgeball event representing his team Europe.  However they weren't the overall winners as they were trumped by the Americans

The overall winning team

After all the sports had finished we gave the Belgian students some gifts and Pieter some gifts for his new baby twins.

After the sports afternoon we headed back the hotel to get ready for dinner.

We went to an Italian restaurant for dinner.

Judith would like a pizza oven like this back at school now!  Let's ask the school council!

Travel training in action

Hello all,
We've had a very smooth day and have made it to Sint Niklaas without any delays!  The students have been all smiles and chatting on the trains.

We were met at the station by some of the Belgian students and they brought a familiar flag!

We walked to the school and were met by the large group and began our Meet, Greet, and Eat evening.

The students had great fun getting to know each other.  We played ice breaking games and tried lots of different Belgian foods.

There were lots of tasty treats and everyone found something they liked.  We walked back to the hotel and checked in.  Looking forward to a city tour in the morning and some sports tomorrow afternoon.
